Upgrading M2.SSD
Hi Everyone;
A bit of a rookie question here, so please be kind! I upgraded the M2 boot drive in my laptop and was wondering if I need to do a fresh install of windows 10 or if there is a way to clone the old drive (partitions and all) so that I can use the new drive as the boot drive and remove the old M2??? If I can clone it, any advice on the easiest software to use would be appreciated!
Thanks

I also recommend Macrium Reflect. If you don't have a way to have both M.2 SSDs connected simultaneously, you'll need to capture an image of the source drive to some other location (like an external hard drive), swap in the new SSD, and then restore it onto the new one rather than directly cloning from one to the other, but the end result is the same.
Note however that if you're moving from an M.2 SATA SSD to an M.2 NVMe SSD, then if your SATA Operation mode in your BIOS is set to AHCI rather than RAID, you may find that your cloned copy won't boot from the NVMe SSD. The reason is that the Windows installation you cloned from a SATA SSD won't have been set up to load its NVMe driver and therefore won't start from an NVMe SSD without modification. The paid version of Macrium Reflect has a feature called ReDeploy that will address this, but obviously that costs money, although if you end up using it as a regular image and/or file-based backup solution going forward, then the value proposition looks a better, and it is a great application for those purposes. The reason this isn't an issue in RAID mode is because RAID causes the Intel Rapid Storage controller to manage the SATA and NVMe interfaces on the system, and therefore Windows just sees the controller rather than the storage and uses the Intel RST driver to access it, and that driver doesn't need to change based on whether the actual storage is using SATA or NVMe. Good luck!HI
I have been using Acronis for ages. There is no need to install Win again.
There was SSD M.2 Toshiba KXG50ZNV512G NVMe when I bought my AW. I "cloned" system to Samsung 960 EVO M.2 250 and tomorrow I'm going to do it again to M.2 Samsung 960 EVO 512G using Acronis. (from pendrive)

The free edition of Macrium Reflect will do the job -- and is hard to beat from an ease-of-use standpoint.
