Direct connect Data Mover and Storage Processors to Fiber switch ??
We have a customer that has an existing EMC SAN with a NS20 Celerra. The two are directly connected to each other via short fiber cables. The main question I have is can we separate the two, and still work, by connecting them to a Fiber channel switch? We would like to use the NS20 for iSCSI connections and use Fiber channel network to assign LUN's to a Cisco UCS system. Is this possible?
Thank you for the quick response. How would I properly identify the difference between NS20 and NS20FC? From what I could tell the SP's and Mover only had enough fiber connections for the direct connects.
Even on a NS20FC it isnt supported to change the DM to SP connections from direct to fabric – that would change it from an Integrated to a gateway plus Clariion
What you can do is to upgrade it a NS20 to a NS20FC (licence) and the you get EXTRA FC ports on the NS20’s builtin CX3-10F that you can connect to a FC switch and use for SAN hosts
Just do a /nas/sbin/model to find out what you have
