USM will walk you through the steps, you can do it online. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself and this array is under maintenance contract, you can get local EMC CE to assist.
You can visit CX4 support site: http://corpusweb130.emc.com/upd_prod_CX4/, to generate the step-by-step instructions guide for adding/replacing a component on CX4. For example:
Adding a DAE should be NDU (non-disruptive upgrade), but you should make sure it will not go into the "Back-end Bus Speed Reset Wizard". The wizard would reboot both SPs, so before continuing you have to stop all I/O to the storage.
