CompCU Assistance
I've run into the following error attempting to create a view volume using CompCU and am hoping someone can shed some light on it. I've read through the CompCU manual and couldn't find any answers there.
java -jar CompCU.jar -defaultname 13037 -c "replay createview -index 7310-697-26 -view lm_2012_07 -folder LM -serverindex 11"
Compellent Command Utility (CompCU) 5.5.1.4
=================================================================================================
User Name: Admin
Host/IP Address: 1.1.1.1
Single Command: replay createview -index 7310-697-26 -view lm_2012_07 -folder LM -serverindex 11
=================================================================================================
Connecting to Storage Center: 1.1.1.1 with user: Admin
Running Command: replay createview -index 7310-697-26 -view lm_2012_07 -folder LM -serverindex 11
Creating View Volume 'lm_2012_07' on replay 'Daily at 10:30 PM' created at '04/18/2012 09:30:04 pm'...
Error creating View Volume: Cause: Volume Maximum Block Count Exceeded for History, PITC (106-26) - Volume Maximum Block Count Exceeded for History, PITC (106-26)
Does anyone by chance have any idea how I can go about doing a this view volume history expansion on the volume through CompCU? The storage center in question is running version 5.5.3
In the GUI when this error appears, you hit the Expand button and move on to creating/mapping the view volume. Unfortunately, this needs to be accomplished automatically in this particular case.
Thanks in advance.

The Volume Maximum Block Count is a value that was introduced in Storage Center 5.0.1. This is to explicitly keep unwanted View Volumes from being created by scripts so as to not accidentally overwhelm the memory on your SAN.
There is no way to increase the Volume Maximum Block Count throguh CompCU. This value can be modified through the Storage Center GUI as shown on page 111 of the 5.5 Storage Center System Manager User Guide:
Viewing and Modifying Replays
The Replay tab appears only on volumes for which there are Replays. From the system tree, select a volume . In the Volume Information window, select Replays. The system displays information about any Replays associated with the selected volume.
Default is 100 maximum view volumes and 16TB of configured volume space. This wizard allows you to modify these limits for:
• The number of view volumes that can be created, and
• The configured amount of space for all view volumes that share a Replay history. Can be set to megabytes, gigabytes, terabytes, or petabytes of space. The Unlimited option applies only to Maximum Configured Volume Space limits.
If you do increase this it would be recommended to monitor your memory utilization.
Looks like there is a new snapshot history attribute called VolumeBlockCountMaxSum that can be modified so the EU should be able create this large of a view volume, but sounds like the memory utilization will need to be monitored while this change is in place.
