UNSOLVED
redistributing drives between shelves.
Currently we have 3 x 24 drive enclosures on our compellent array and we're about to add 2 more.
The current config is:
Enclosure - 2 : Drives 1 - 24 = 146GB 15K
Enclosure - 3 : Drives 1 - 24 = 146GB 15K
Enclosure - 4 : Drives 1 - 12 = 146GB 15K, Drives 13-24 = 1TB 7.2K
Being added next week:
Enclosure - 5 : Drives 1 - 12 = 146GB 15K, Drives 13-24 = 1TB 7.2K
On order:
Enclosure - 6 : Drives 1 - 12 = 1TB 7.2K
Since each drive type in an enclosure requires a dedicated spare, is it possible to redistribute the 146GB and 1TB drives in enclosures 4 & 5 so that each 24 drive enclosure contains only 146GB or 1TB drives?
The goal is to reduce the number of spare drives required and add more spindles for increased I/O.
Thanks.

Hello,
Yes you can move the drives around in the different enclosures as long as there is no configuration on the drives. If you want to move drive that have a configuration on them then it is best to contact Compellent to have them assist you in the best way to move the drives with Data on them phone# 1-866-397-8673
