Customer support comments
I ordered a new PC and it was delayed. Then it was delayed again. I contacted support, and the rep stated they would see if they can expedite the delivery and offered me a $80 credit. I was notified pretty much the next day that the PC had shipped. Kudos to Dell customer support for being prompt and effective. I had a concern and Dell acted on that concern.
Now to the company delivering the PC - Purolator. My experience was pretty much the opposite. I recognize this is a third party, but I want to call it out as part of my overall experience with purchasing a product from Dell.
I chose to work from home because the PC was scheduled to be delivered today. I then get a notification that the delivery is delayed due to a "routing issue". Purolator sent the PC 500km in the wrong direction. I get on the Purolator website and use the chatbot to find out what is going on and what can be done to correct the issue. The chatbot is useless. I called Purolator's 800 support line. It is automated and useless. I insist on speaking to a support person. The rep is polite but clearly isn't sure why I'm calling about this seemingly trivial issue. The rep explains that the problem happened at the "depot level" and that maybe the package probably just wound up on the wrong conveyer. Bottom line... the rep was as useful as the chatbot and the automated support line.
Now I doubt I will purchase from Dell in the future, and it has nothing to do with Dell.
