DDR Replication
We have two Avamar grids (7.1.1.145), in each of their own data centers, that each back up data to their own DataDomain units (DD990). The data on each of those DDRs is replicated to the other DDR. Earlier this year – several months back, I ** thought ** an EMC tech suggested we schedule the filesys cleans on the two DDRs to run at alternate times during the week (i.e. one on Sun and the other on Wed) so that one DDR could complete its cleaning process, communicate to the second DDR what images it had cleaned, and allow that second DDR to update its records before starting its own clean. Did I dream that? Is there any benefit or need to stagger the two DDR filesys cleans like that? Our capacity has gotten to the point where we may need to run a filesys clean twice each week on one of the DDRs, and that will mess up our ‘understanding’ that they should be staggered.
