Need advise. I received a warning alert stating "Event ID: 41.3.6 The iSCSI connection count in pool xxxxx has reached 1000." Is this something that should be of a concern? The SAN hosts datastores for VMs and we made few changes like added some connections to standadise the environment.
I did a google and got nothing. Also checked the Dell EqualLogic Events Guide document and the event number does not exist.
Any advise where to check this? Or what if any problems can be caused by this?
This indicates that you are near the pool capacity for iSCSI connections. The warning is kicked off when you get close to the 1024 iSCSI connections per pool. You may need to keep an eye on this or take corrective actions to ensure you do not exceed the maximum of 1024 per pool (or 4096 per group with 4 pools). Corrective action would be to move volumes to additional pools, or reduce the number of connections in the pool.
I’ll submit an enhancement request for this Event ID to be added to the Event guide.
Prior to submitting the document enhancement request, can I please get you to re-check the event log for the warning you reported, and received (ID 41.3.6). I reviewed the latest Event Guide that was Published on July 2012 (First publication) Part Number: 110-6096-EN-R2, and there are three events for iSCSI connection limits listed:
The email came from the Group, I think. Both the group and SAN HQ is configured with the same email address for the sender. The SAN HQ version is 2..2.0.5924
Did the message come from the group (i.e., you have SMTP configured for all alerts/warnings etc., and getting the warning message from the group manager).
Do you have SANHQ installed? If so what version? Did the message come from this application?
