Erasing data from CD-RW is not possible with my Inspiron. Why?

Read Writeable CD's are not like usb flash drives.
They are Burned in sessions.
In order to put new Data on them they MUST BE FORMATTED.
CD-RW must be formatted before writing to them the 1st time
and each time the data is changed.
Then they can be Written with new data.
right clicking on the CD drive icon does not bring up either erase or format if you do not have CDRW software.
In windows 10 you have to Open File Explorer or the This PC icon if you have that setup.
Then select the DVDRW drive then select the MANAGE button.

Erase Disk CDRW or DVDRW
If your Media is not RW this will make a coaster with no data.
After Next Click Finish when prompted this will take a few minutes.
