Corrupt Recovery Partition

Is it possible to repair a corrupted recovery partition? My Inspiron N5050 laptop cannot boot from said partition, or from the recovery disc either (recently made). It seems a file is missing (or corrupted) called "windows\system32\boot\winload.exe" on both the partition and the recovery disc.

I did a workaround by doing a clean install of Windows 7 via my Dell Inspiron 620, Dell-branded Windows 7 installation disc. Things seem to be working OK so far, so I probably will keep thing as they are, but I was just wondering if the recovery partition could be repaired - or maybe make a new one with my current setup?

In addition, I may go a step further and install a newer 7200 RPM drive in the laptop. Any recommendations for cloning the old disc onto the newer one?
