Hello, I have to change the ssd disk mSATA because it's broken. Anyone could you tell me if Samsung 860 EVO mSATA or Kingston UV500 mSATA is compatible? I was looking for any information about the compatibility in this laptop but I didn't have lucky. Thanks,
I can confirm that any normal size SSD will work, so you don't have to buy mSATA drive. I installed Samsung EVO 850. I removed the mSATA bracket and installed normal size SSD. Securing the disk is another issue, but some duct tape will help.
I also installed 2nd drive in WWAN slot. I used KingSpec M.2 NVME 2242 256GB drive and it works perfectly (it is also very fast). There are 2 caveats:
- M.2 drive must be 42 mm (2242 standard) and NVME disk (some m.2 disks use SATA standard - these are not compatible)
- system can't boot from NVME disk, so it can only be used as 2nd disk

There aren't really compatibility issues with SATA and mSATA drives. The only exception would be physical size related, but I don't think even that applies to mSATA. The Samsung 860 Evo mSATA is a great choice. Just make sure you get the mSATA version, because it's also available in M.2 and 2.5" SATA forms. I had an 850 Evo in my Latitude E7440 a while ago and it was great. So I guess buy it from a place you can return it from if you're worried, but it is overwhelmingly likely that it will work just fine.
