Another video card question
I'm sure this is redundant, but I've tried to research this on other sites; from the post here I've read so far this looks like the best site I've seen to get information.
Running a Dimension 4550, some upgrades; had to replace the hard drive 2 yrs ago, and upgraded then to the GeForce FX5200 AGP vid card. Have not, and can't afford, to upgrade the power supply. The 5200 has worked great so far, playing Sacred, Dungeon Siege, NFS, and NFS Most Wanted. Received 2 new games for my birthday, they both require GF 6800 or better. What would be the best card, 250W ps, for my system?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
- Yup. Both cards will work just fine. Your power supply is just showing the mean average and the peak is around 345 watts. In addition the manufacture of the cards are just suggesting a better power supply for those individuals that way overload their systems and for head room as well. No worries

The best card for that system and not having to upgrade the power supply would be the 7600 GT AGP slot version card.
You will have to connect a molex Y power cable to the card in order for it to work. Not hard to do. Most of the retail cards come with the Molex Y cable but some do not. Get one that does. You connect one end of the 4 pin power cable to the card and the other two 4 pin connectors to your power supplys extra 4 pin power inputs.
If you cannot afford the 7600 GT then get the 7600 GS card AGP version. Not great for gaming, but better what you have now.
