Dimension 4600 upgrade PLEASE HELP
I have a Dimension 4600 and I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card because the 64mb "intel extreme graphics" isn't cutting it. I recently ordered an ATI Radeon 9600XT from newegg. Had problems with it not displaying correctly though. Images and text would have lines cut through them making things very hard to read. Couldnt find an answer to my problem...if any one has n e ideas I'd be interested in hearing them. Tried updating bios, drivers and so forth. Anyway I'm looking for a new card to replace that, which will be compatible with my system and I wont have the same problem again. Im a college student and the bank account is slim to none so im looking for a card thats not gonna break me. Any suggestions for cards to upgrade to would be much appreciated.

- Don't worry about the 9600 XT needing to be plugged into the Power Supply, as the AGP supplies enough power for the card connected into the bus. All new video cards nowadays require the card to additionally be plugged into the power supply as the AGP bus does not supply enough power for their high demanding juice requirements. This does not apply to your 9600 XT, but there is no reason why it wouldn't work.Another thing you can try is "Driver Cleaner". It is possible you have driver conflicts. Use driver cleaner to clean out all the drivers in your system - nVidia or ATI. Then reinstall the fresh, most recently-updated ATI drivers from ATI's website for your 9600 XT.
