Firewire Issue

Hi,

I am running an XPS410 with Vista Ultimate. I am trying to connect a Maxtor 1Ter HD to it via firewire, but it is not seeing the drive. I checked all the drivers -on board in Vista - and they are all up to date. The Maxtor works fine on another Vista (Inspiron 1520/ VistaHome Premium) unit, which is a bit newer,. The USB on the 410 works, but the Firewire just stalls the system.

As near as I can tell from the Maxtor (now owned by Seagate), the firmware might be out of date. Can anyone provide suggestions as to how I can get the Firewire up an running. I saw nothing in terms of firmware on the Dell site for this issue, but I could have missed it.

Thanks in advance.

Jake

there is no "firmware" for Firewire. They're talking about firmware of the hard drive which you get from Maxtor/Seagate.
