Check the speakers and make sure the connection to the sound card is OK and that the speakers work OK. Plug the speakers, assuming you have stereo or 2.1 analog powered speakers, to an Ipod, MP3 player, etc and see if you get proper volume. You can also plug a headset into the GREEN speaker jack and see if the sound is OK.
If the PC's sound is not OK and it just started use the System Restore function and restore the PC back to a date when it did work correctly. System Restore can be accessed under Accessories/System Tools.
