illegal message format-file transfer
i am trying to transfer a file using serial ports and direct cable connection using a null modem. i am using hyperterminal for this transfer.
'send' system is 8250 xp pro; 'receive' system is win 98 on inspiron 3200 notebook. both are set up as follows; 8,1,n, speed 9600. both systems using com1.
each time, i get the message 'illegal message format' when trying to send or receive. i have been unable to track down the cause of this message. error message occurs regardless of sending system.
what causes the message 'illegal message format' in Hyperterminal??
