memory help me pleaseeeeeeeeeeee
HI!
I receved this mensage when tried upgrade my dimension 8100 memory:
CANNOT FIND OR LOAD REQUIRED FILE KRNL386.EXE
THE PATH WAS NOT FOUND
SISTEM HALTED
I HAVE IN MY COMPUTER 128 MB AND TRIED INSTALL 2X 512MB 400MHZ 256X 16, 16C,W. THE COMPUTER DOSEN'T WORK, ONLY WITH THE OLD MEMORY.
I BOUGHT FROM DELL AFTER ASK ABOUT UPGRADE MY COMPUTER. I CALLED CUSTOMER SUPPORT BUT THE GUY THERE DOSEN'T KNOW NOTHING. ANYONE CAN HELP?SORY MY ENGLISH

you are right.
I bought 512mb (2x) to upgrade my computer dimension 8100, nothing work after i tried upgrade. i made call to dell support (is a joke), and the guy don't know any thing, almost 1 hour i wait this stupid answer my question and nothing, this memory cust to me U$ 750.00.thank you

DONT buy memory from DELL. They rip you off and send you defective memory. My friend bought a 512mb kit for his 8100(which im assuming you did also) and the RDRAM didn't work at all. Then, the Dell tech spent an hour going in circles about moving the RAM around into different slots which did nothing.

are you still able to boot the computer with jsut the old memory??
just wonder if dell sent you defective or the wrong memory..and you did correctly use their memory selector? because they have messed up their memory selector and its causing people problems with upgrading their memory.
