First I've heard of it. New Windows? Wow!

    But seriously, folks...

Looks good so far, except for the exceptionally restrictive licensing proposed...due out in the latter part of October, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I have had the Beta 2 of Windows XP Professional for a couple of weeks. I set up a dual boot so when things went to pot I could still use Windows Me. So far XP has done very well. It is stable. No BSOD. No crashes not caused by myself. There are still not a lot of drivers as would be expected. I have not found a anti-virus program that is fully compatible. Zone Alarm Pro works but not Zone Alarm. All in all I think it is a good program for a Beta. It looks promising.

I know this, I knowit is supposed to be a cross between Windows 2000 and Windows Me. They are trying to merge the two into a more stable user friendly version. As well, it is supposed to add more security in that you must register it and you will only be allowed so many reinstalls of it before you have to contact Microsoft for another ID code.

I ordered my copy of Office XP Professional yesterday, It has the same security features as Windows XP is to have. Microsoft is trying it's best to do away with software piracy. Sounds like they're getting there.

    Latest News:

Windows XP final - October 26th.
RC1 (Release Candidate 1) is now down for June 20th, and RTM (Release to Manufacture) no later than August 29th.

Microsoft has also knocked back the release of Win2k Service Pack 2, because of the last minute discovery of a bug in the WINS client. The new RTM is May 14th, next Monday.

Caddellwr, there is a new version of ZA pro available, you know where to look.

I have the new version of ZA Pro. It works fine on XP. My problem is the free version doesn't work. However the manual uninstall instructions at Zone Labs will wipe it clean enough to reinstall every 30 days. I don't want to pay for the full version because I know Zone Labs will make the free version compatible.

I've been running WinXP on a 4100 1Ghz machine for 3 weeks now. GREAT OS!!! Absolutely no problems with it recognizing any hardware. Had very little trouble with apps. NAV 2001 runs fine with patch from Symantec and Zone Alarm 2.6.88 runs fine. Haven't re-booted in over a week.

Does Norton SystemWorks work good on XP? You have to get a patch? Where is this patch?
