Nvidia video card issues

The new Nvidia 8x.xx drivers are apparently fixing many game related video issues. Please try them before posting your game related video issue. Here are the instructions to remove the old driver and install the new 8x.xx.

    Hello Chris,

Is Dell planning on having these drivers installed properly so customers won't have to hassle with the processs you kindly outlined?   I want to buy an XPS 600 w/ SLI very soon but I really don't want to mess around with downloading all sorts of different drivers/programs and such.  I was hoping to turn it on, install my games and play with SLI working in proper order.

    Thank you!!

    Super11074,

I doubt it. Our engineers have to approve them. It takes awhile.

Once you update the driver..........You have to re-enable the SLI in the control panel.....

make sure the box that says enable SLI is checked and you will be good to go.

On a side note, the stock dell drivers will give you great gameplay, and if you not the type to search for new drivers, than use the std dell, The directions that Chris has provided to update the drawings are complete and easy, just looks intimidating.

    Chris,

I am sure you do not have a ton of pull, but I do have an XPS 600 SLI with the 7800 GTX's.

I followed your steps and installed the new drivers.....games play much smoother....however they play at a lower frame rate because I believe the new drivers have disabled my SLI.

After paying so much for a computer I will have paitence because I know we are on the "bleeding edge" of technology, but with approved MUCH BETTER drivers out, Dell needs the get their tails in gear and have these done for us.  After all they just ran a huge campagin about the new Lux line of PC's, well they need to supprt them like they market them.

Any ideas on how I can make my SLI work with the new drivers.

    Thanks!!

I noticed that if you select XP Media Center Edition, nVidia still refers you to 77.79.

    theprezodent,

According to Nvidia, SLI is turned on with those drivers.

    Release Highlights:
    WHQL Certified driver.
Adds support for GeForce 6600 VE, GeForce 6150, and GeForce 6100.
Mixed vendor support for NVIDIA SLI

Everything seems to work fine, but honestly i still am trying to figure out exactly what is up with my SLI.  When I do not turn on the SLI, graphics look much smoother....cant put my finger on it, but with SLI turned on and pan around playing half life 2, or FEAR, or battlefield 2, there seems to be "tears" ....I wish I had a screen shot because I can not really explain it.  I am running the Dell 2405 at 1900x1200 but with SLI off the framerate is slower but the background graphics look smoother as I pan around.

I know that "tears" in not the right word, but its just not smooth, its like parts of the screen are lagging behind the others a tenth of a second or something.  Its a small thing and game play is still really great, but I wish that SLI was as smooth as when it is not actvated.

Chris, do you have any idea on this?

Have any other XPS 600 owners experienced this?

    Hey, all...

I must be missing something here. I've never been able to download drivers from the nVidia site since I got these new computers ... I'd thought their site site was the problem but don't believe so anymore ... surely they'd have fixed it by now.

My problem is the pop-up box when you click to download the driver by selecting the main or mirror site - the pop-up that reads "License For Customer Use of NVIDIA Software" ...

Click "Accept" results in a Javascript error of some kind with both IE and Firefox - I tried adding the site to trusted zone and disabling Internet Security but nothing has worked... what is the secret?

    Otherwise ...

this new driver says it works with Media Center Edition; but if you choose MCE as the OS in the driver selection page you get directed to an earlier driver... and BOTH driver's release notes say that nVidia does NOT reccomend using multi-view or multi-display or multi-monitor modes (something like that) with MCE ... what gives on that?

    Peace...
