Printer Gone--Add Not Allowed!
My old Dell 8100 will not let me "install" (reinstall) my printer (one that came with it from Dell, Lexmark). Machine is going on 5 years old and never had a printer problem before.
I think there was a new anti-spyware program that removed this start-up spooler and I am unable to restore it from the program. Also, new version of BHODemon deleted something as I had 2 startup entries I allowed, now 1 is missing.
The message I get when I try to "Add Printer" is "OUT OF RESOURCES--Printer operation cannot continue due to lack of resources. The print subsystem is unavailable."
I have reinstalled the printer drivers and plugged/unplugged printer, and tried Find New Hardware installer.
All I can think of is the printer spooler is disabled (appears as "stopped" in my SysConfigUtility) and I cannot see how to enable it as my only option there is to Enable or Disable All.
Also, my SystemRestore button is grayed-out (SysConfigUtility).
In the MS Mgmt. Console/Svcs., I tried to manually START the spooler, but get this message: "Could not start the Print Spooler service on Local Computer. Error 1075: the dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion."
Using W2K Pro as Administrator.
Is there a Registry hack to fix this?
Thanks in advance!!!
