RAID error message

When I start up my computer, this is the message I get.  I know that I have to rebuild the RAID, but I do not know how.  Do I lose all my files and programs when I rebuild the RAID?

Any suggestions??  I have a Dimensions 5150/E510
First it came up
Checking file system on C:
The type of file system is NTFS
This volume is dirty...
then it went on to
CHKDSK  in index $I30  38003
some of the error messages said something about a RAID 1 (mirroring)
Status Degrader
Then it went on and on with all sort of checking and correcting errors...a lot of the time it had the index $I30 and the file 38003....
then it fixed itself
An icon in the rite side of the puter has a little flashy thing and when i put the mouse on it it says:  A RAID volume is degraded because of failed hard drives  when i click on it...it shows a picture and says a hard drive is failed and RAID drive is degraded....then below it says
Detail:  a hard drive is missing, however the hard drive is functioning normally.  However data protection is no longer available
Solution:  promptly replace the failed hard drive
Warning:  Data is no longer protected from a single hard drive failure
RAID 1 duplicates user files across multiple hard drives, increasing data protection.

Since you problem deals with the RAID system, a failing hard drive and the need to recover data,  I would suggest that you post a copy of your problem over in the Dimension - Hard Drive forum.  RAID questions are a frequent topic in that forum and it would be the best source to find a solution to your problem.

Majestic, he has had 6 responses on the XP forum and 3 on the hard drive forum, and taking none of the advice, or asking followup questions on how to implement the advice given.

Thanks Mombodog for the advice.  Unfortunately, I am on a business trio and do not have access to my desktop.  I am only going by the information that my kids have been sending me.  Like I mentiones to Bev, one hard drive has a capacity of 160 G and another called Back Up only shows a capacity of 32 M.  I am trying to find out what drive is saying degraded.  I will try this when I get back home.

I have been replying to the people who have been giving me advice and thanking them for their input.

If I had not thank you, then take this as a thank you.

Mombodog...not a problem...not a jerk.  I am sure that there are people that place a problem/question and never respond.  Not me...lol

Why would you say the 32M is probably the bad drive?  Do you think it is repairable...or do I have to replace it.

Sorry did not realize you were relaying info...   I feel like a jerk.  :-))

32m is probably the dead one.
