Removing power supply
I'm trying to remove and replace the psu of an inspiron 580. after unscrewing the four screws and unplugging all the connectors, i can't take the thing out because of what the documentation calls "power supply retention snaps", which appear to be a pair of metal studs on the bottom of the case. no matter how much i press down on them they continue to block the box from moving out. i also tried pushing one with a screwdriver which didn't seem to accomplish anything except permanently bend it downwards
as a side note, there's an orange sata cable attached to the motherboard; the other end is loose. any idea where this goes?

Here are the steps to remove the power supply for Inspiron 580:
Note: During installation or removal of any hardware, always turn off the system and ensure all data is backed up properly. Disconnect any telephone, network, and USB cables from the computer. Disconnect the computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.
- Locate the power supply in the system chassis
- Disconnect the DC power cables from the system board and drives
- Unroute the cables from the chassis hooks
- Remove the four screws securing the power supply to the chassis
- While lifting up on the front of the power supply with one hand, push down the release tabs located at the base of the power supply with your other hand. Disengage the power supply from the chassis
- Once released, slide the power supply forward
- Remove the power supply and its cables from the cables
- Now, you should be able to remove the power supply

like i said i've done everything up to the point of dislodging the psu from the chassis, because the tabs don't seem to be working properly

get another friends assistance and both "gently" push down on the retaining clips far enough past the edge of the PSU and dislodge it from the case, if you have to pull upwards using the bunched up PSU power cables, it is going to be replaced anyway right? i believe orange sata cable from m/b is a CD-RW drive cable
