SCREEN SAVER
SINCE NEW MY 8400 DEMENTION HOME COMPUTER WONT LET THE SCREENSAVERS WORK NONE OF THEM EVER THANKS

Hello,I am having the same problem with my Dimension 8400 system. I tried your suggestion of right clicking on the desktop and select properties. Click on the screensaver tab and choose which one you want from the pulldown menu (or add your own to this menu). Click OK. But it did not work. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.ThanksMdtechie- I have 3 accounts in XP and always set the screen saver option [and select different screen savers] using Control Panel--I believe it's "Appearance and Themes" [not on a PC right now so I can't check].
That screen gives you an option to preview the SS you've selected.
dg - I'll add a philosophical note. While screen savers are fun, they serve no purpose. They save nothing, and in fact use more electricity as compared with allowing your monitor to simply power off when the system is idle. They are troublesome, which is why some applications must be run with the screen saver disabled.My suggestion is to set the monitor to power down during idle time rather than use a screen saver.

Thanks for your input.I can perview the screen saver but when I set it to launch after 1 minute nothing happens.- Osprey--Vaild points indeed. However, there have been some cases involving some of the flat panel LCDs running in XP that balk after automatically powering down [which is why mine is set to never go off unless I shut down the system].

- I'm not worried about the power consumption and know I don't need to use one, but I do like them since I take a lot of digital photos and rotate the savers [that's the only time I see them!].
I wish I could resolve the issue where the system freezes when set to auto-power down, but to date have not succeeded.
