trouble starting my computer
HI, I work at a store where we have two Dell computers. If we have both computers on at the same time they both get really slugglish and one barely works. We are getting ready for busy season and need both computers functioning. We tried to start the second computer today and it makes a loud whirring sound like it is about to start. But the whirring sounds contines and doesnt let up. The monitor turns on with the lg symbol but then says it is going into sleep mode. Why wont my computer connect to the monitor? Ive turned it off and taken all of the cords out of it and plugged everything back in but that didnt help. It is still making the loud whirring sound....ANy suggestions or advice?

From the above post, itseems to be an issue with the fan or the hard drive in the computer.
To troubleshoot further, let me know the system model and the status of the power button on the tower.Awaiting your response!

Your Service Manual states that LEDs 3 and 4 are diagnostic codes for "Memory modules are detected, but a memory failure has occurred.".
If two or more memory modules are installed, remove the modules, then reinstall one module and restart the computer. If the computer starts normally, continue to install additional memory modules (one at a time) until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error.

You say things that are pointing to different issues.
Run diagnostics....

==> Does the situation get better when you turn off the other machine? Also, what gets slow? The internet? Couldn't be maxed out on throughput of the router. The actually machine? Could be source power?
The whirring sounds? Most likely a fan, but which one. There is a CPU fan, a system fan, a fan in the power supply, some hard drive cages have a fan, some video cards have a fan. In desktop, you should be able to open the case and see which fans. Also, if the fan is whirring because it is getting hot, your processor may be throttled down purposefully to protect the computer. Also if the temp sensor is bad it could cause the same thing. As rajesh said, it can also be the hard drive....
If the monitor is going into sleep mode. What this means is that the monitor is not receiving video signal AND IT KNOWS IT IS NOT RECEIVING IT. This means that the video card is not pushing it out (note, it may have a fan) to the monitor which could be a motherboard, video card, video cable, or monitor issue. If the computers are the same type, try swapping out the video card and see if the problem follows the card or the monitor/cable and proceed accordingly.

I have two Dell Optiplex 380's.
When i turn it on it makes the loud sound, air. The power light is on, and then there are a row of lights above the power button. (the light that says its connected to the ethernet cord, as well as the numbers 3 and 4). The computer that s having issues is never turned on, except here and there.
