I have a Dell XPS 730 with 2048 (2 x 1GB) 1333 MHz DDR3 Dual Channel worth of memory.

 

I would like to upgrade this memory to 6GB by using a further 2 x 2GB 1066 MHz DDR3 memory.

 

I would just like to know if this can be done and whether or not you can mix 1333 MHz memory with 1066 MHz memory?

 

Obviously with there being only 4 memory expansion slots on the motherboard, if 1333 MHz memory can then be mixed with 1066 MHz, I could have (2 x 1GB) 1333 MHz DDR3 in two of the memory slots and a further 2 x 2GB 1066 MHz DDR3 in the remaining two slots.

 

Hope someone can clear this up for me.
