xps600 problems
I have had my XPS 600 for about a Month .I have encountered the
following problems:
1.Receiving Internet Explorer error
2. After viewing some web sites and closing them out the computer will lock up
3. Spikes in the CPU when nothing appears to be running
4. Looking at the cursor on the screen you can see an hour glass flickering behind it from time to time as if something is running (this will happen when you have nothing up and it is on the desktop screen.)
5.Very slow loading programs
6.Some programs will not even open up (Like Windows media player ,.Paint shop pro or internet Explorer).
7. Experiencing serious lag playing games that i have had no previos problems with on old system.
Have been on phone with Dell . They walked me through a complete system restore. This has not corrected any of the problems.

- I don't know if this helps, but I had a computer which exhibited similar problems and ultimately I discovered it was a bad hard drive. I had done a complete reinstall (which took FOREVER - this was a very good indicator there was a problem with the HD) just as you did; it didn't fix the problem. I replaced the hard drive and the system is fine now. Don't know how likely this would be in your case as the PC is relatively new.You may want to run a HD diagnostic program. Most HD manufacturers provide them on their websites.

Sounds like a virus or spyware to me. Does the system restore procedure (never used it, never will) format the drive or just overwrite files? I would check that system for spyware or viruses.- Was my first thoughts also, but then re-read his post that he did a complete system restore (not windows restore) which would have been to an as-shipped condition w/o viruses, etc., based on his comment: " Have been on phone with Dell . They walked me through a complete system restore. This has not corrected any of the problems.
