5150 "IN LINE" missing

Just got the work that my 5150 has no in-line for external input. At the price this laptop was, it should have had a full bank of aux connections.

Ho...Hum....what else is new on Dell.

Does anyone have a source for a USB adapter that will convert a Mini plug. Then I can use my amplifies headphone out jack to source the sterio off old LP's I'm trying to preserve on cd's

Thanks for the answer...I know one of you has the tech knowledge that I lack.

    1) Its usually called Line In, not In Line
    2) One of better external sound cards for the price is the SoundBlaster Extigy.
    3) If you want an even better known highend studio name, try the M-Audio Transit (http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=products.main&ID=ce4f3b6d13494004f69f07cb11070055)

    I simply turned my mic input into an Line In on my 5150. The default setting is microphone playback disabled so there won't be any feedback from the speakers but when you're using it as a Line In, there won't be any feedback. Anyways, I found this registry setting in another forum that enables the microphone:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0005\Settings\DisableMicFromPlayback

    The default setting should be 01, change it to 00. I restarted, went into volume control and unmuted my mic and used it as a line in. The only problem I found was that the volume control will not control the signal from the microphone. That is, regardless of whether the master volume is at maximum or minimum or anything in between, the microphone's level remains constant. This seems to be working fine for me otherwise.

    By the way, my 5150 is running Windows XP Professional. Not sure if the registry keys would be different for Home.
