Go to SolutionAdding 2nd M.2 SSD to Precision 7510
I just purchased a Precision 7510 laptop. I ordered it with the following primary drive and no secondary drive:
- 400-AILW 256GB M.2 PCIe High Performance Solid State Drive, MPWS
I'd like to add a second M.2 NVMe drive (perhaps a Samsung 950 Pro) in the 2.5" drive slot. When ordering the laptop, it was an option to get a high performance M.2 NVMe drive with "Interposer". Does anybody know the part number for this "Interposer"? Are there any other parts that I'll need to make this work?
Thanks!

@Community,
I can now confirm for you that it is technically possible to install a 2nd M.2 drive into the Precision 7510 and Precision 7710 systems, even if the system(s) were not ordered that way from the Dell factory.
For the installation of the 2nd M.2 you will need:
1x 745TM 2.5 inch metal bracket - most units will have this already included
1x Y1WJX M.2 bracket ( goes inside of 745TM )
4x 2864D M3X3 screw. Most systems will have these already included. These screws hold in the Y1WJX M.2 drive carrier, or a 2.5 inch drive into 745TM. M.2 carrier installed shown below:
1x WPTND M.2 Interposer Board. This installs into Y1WJX M.2 bracket. ( Shown in yellow in below screen shot )
5x 4270E M2.0*3L screws
1x HR8P8 M.2 thermal cover
Installation:
Once installed, this is how things should look and be set in the BIOS:

Get back with any questions.
So I spent a bunch of time on the phone today with tech support and parts sales. The end result was a part number that doesn't appear to be available for sale. Can it really be true that you cannot put a second M.2 SSD into a 7510 if it didn't originally come with one? If so, that's serious ***...

@Kazuaki and Furo99,
Thank you for your questions.
5WNPC is a cable for 7510/7710:
WPTND is the M.2 Interposer Board for 7510/7710
There's also an M.2 bracket listed for 7510/7710 Y1WJX:
M.2 Thermal cover HR8P8
Next steps:
-I will confirm for you if it's possible to install a second M.2, for systems already shipped from Dell
-I will try to obtain some installation instructions if it turns out it's possible to upgrade
-You both can send me a friend request and we'll talk about parts ordering/stock
