So after getting my Alienware 17 motherboard replace 3 months after the full service warranty along with my reservation about having a refurbish mother board put in. My laptop all of a sudden blows out black smoke at which time I pull the power cord. Luckily I was present when this happen as just prior to this I was way from the laptop for 15 to 20 min.

I pull the back off to see what the heck happen and were the Wi-Fi is located it is black and underneath you can see were solder has melted and the Wi-Fi card is black on one side.

Phone tech support and informed them what had happen and was told I had to ship it back to them at which time I told them no, I want a technician to come to my house to take the unit apart so that I can see the damage first hand and when he determines what needs to be replaced that it gets installed with me present to ensure that it is done correctly.

Then informed that they could not do that and that I can either get a refund or send it to them. Are you serious this thing almost burnt my house done had I not been present. (You should have seen the black soot beneath the laptop) I am sorry my original warranty had home service so I know it can be done and I think because of the seriousness of this that Dell can at lest send a tech to my house so that I can at lest see the damage first hand.

Yes I can take it apart myself but I do not want any issues and then be blamed that because I took it apart myself that the component was damage during that time.
