bluetooth problem 600m

I had to reformat the hard drive and reinstall Win XP in my 600m. I've reinstalled all the drivers, etc. including Bluetooth. In hardware device manager, everything looks OK (no ! in yellow) Under network adapters, are 2 Bluetooth device entries (personal area network and RFCOMM protocol TDI) and both are "working properly"

When I go to control panel and click Bluetooth configuration or when clicking the Bluetooth icon in sys tray to enable Bluetooth radio, I get the following error "Bluetooth device not found. Please verify that your Bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on."

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

Did you install the Chipset drivers and Notebook System software first before all other drivers?

maybe the BT is turned off!

try Fn+F2 if that's the case to turn it on.

Fn - F2 turns my wireless adapter on/off, nothing for BT. Right-clicking the BT icon in the systray and selecting enable BT radio givs me the error message.

I did install the wreless adater before BT with updated drivers from Intel...

Mary G - I don't know about all other drivers (don't recall the exact order of installation) but before the Bluetooth drivers. I tried uninstalling the Bluetooth drivers, rebooted and let Win find the new hardware, no luck.

bacillus - when I try to turn on the Bluetooth is when I get the error message that the davice can not be found.

Thanks for the sugestions so far.

Thanks very much. I will give it a try.
Long story, but I did have the laptop apart to get at the fan to clean it. So, maybe BT not working is a result of my having to open things up. BT had been working prior to my fan problem and having to reinstall XP because of an IRQL error/blue screen of death issue.
    Thanks again.
