My first post so if I've missed this somewhere please excuse me.

I have an Inspiron 1720. Had it for 2 years and only just come across this problem. I have a Kingston micro SD adapter and am trying to read/write to both a SanDisk 2gb micro and a Kingston 4gb micro SD cards. If I use a USB card reader I have no problem doing this. However, if I put them into the internal reader it throws up the message "unable to write to disk - it is write protected". It appears to me to be a hardware problem with my internal card reader.

Any suggestions that might not need the laptop to go back to Dell will be much appreciated.
