Hi all,

Well, got my e1505 and am pleased overall. No dead pixels, it's really fast, feels good and I like using it. Upgrading from a PIII to a 2.0 Core Duo is like trading your bike in for a Porsche.

I have one issue with the system which is kind of bugging me. Immediately after certain screen activity takes place, the Dell emits a couple of high-pitched, barely audible (but still annoying) ticks. It's like this:

1. I'm in a PDF file (or a web page, or anything really). I hit Page Down.
2. The screen refreshes. Then, right AFTER the refresh, I hear the ticks.

I've done some investigating, and it appears that the more complicated the graphics in the screen, the more ticks I hear. A few other things to point out:

1. The ticks DON'T pop up as often when I'm watching a video file.
2. They do show up when I alt-tab from one program to another.
3. The ticks do show up when I'm outputting to a TV monitor.
4. Ticks are not related to any hard drive or cd drive activity (as far as I can tell).
5. From what I can tell, the ticks seem to emanate from the left side of the laptop, near the left speaker.

So what do you think? Should I just consider this "normal"? Can anyone guess what's causing them, or better yet how I can make them stop? Would you send your laptop back to Dell over something like this? Also, can anyone recommend other tests to run so that I can better pinpoint what's causing them?
