D620 Caps Lock Erratic - Highlighting Text Erratic - Multiple PC's

Just got a batch of D620's and have put these issues together as these two issues seem to happen at the same time.

Also, I have more than one user that this is occurring to, and after updating certain drivers the problem is not resolved.

When highlighting just a single word in Word or similar application or single email in Outlook, more than what is selected is being highlighted.  E.G: With Outlook all emails in the Inbox will highlight when only selected one.

Caps lock acting erratic: Caps lock will turn on by itself, but the caps lock LED will not be lit up. This occurs when in the middle of typing in various applications or even when returning to PC after a short time.  You can sometimes get Caps Lock working correctly by continuously pressing the Caps Lock key (LED on and typing represents ALL CAPS).  Sometimes a reboot required.

One user explains it as if the SHIFT key get stuck.

Happens with laptop keyboard or external when using a dock.
Changed external keyboards.
Tried different docks.
I have updated Notebook System Software,  touchpad software and any other software I could think of.
KEY is that it is more than one laptop.

I would ask Dell to take a look at this issue and respond as we a large customer and these D620's are just starting to come in and to have this on several laptops is not a good thing. Or for that fact, not good for even a single buyer\user.

Anyone else with this issue and have you found a fix yet?

Thanks

Teresa

    Hi

I have a couple of D620's with this exact same problem

As usual I first pointed the finger at Accesibility options, but they are now well disabled

It tends to be restricted to users who use Office heavily (mainly in Excel)

again, both these users use a D/Dock, but the problem can occur when docked or undocked, it does seem like shiftlock is being activated somehow, for one user I went to the trouble of completely replacing his laptop with another 620, but he is still suffering

We have got quite a few of these exact laptops (80+ I think), but most seem to be working fine as they don't use docks or Office

so any thoughts would be good

We have a large number of Latitude D830 with the same problem. Caps and shift keys issues with a PS2 keyboard. Everything works fine with an USB keyboard.

Is there a solution since 2/2/2007?
