Dead Pixels on Latitude CP

I have a CP200 Latitude machine that has a solid row of dead pixels (about 3 inches) close to the base of the screen. Having hooked up the said product to a CRT monitor I can confirm that everything displays as normal. On researching the web it appears that the problem could be the inverter within the screen. Are there any Techies out there that can point me in the right direction? Does anyone know where I could purchase an inverter (if that is the source of the problem) . Maybe I'm  barking up the wrong tree or maybe just barking mad?

The inverter is simply the power supply for the backlight bulb - it has nothing to do with the issue.

If it's a whole row of dead pixels, the fault is likely with the display panel itself, not the electronics - the only solution would be to replace the entire panel (for which you'll need the panel plus the inverter, unless the model of screen is identical, in which case you can re-use your inverter).
