driver problems
On my new Inspiron (service tag JQ44Z91), I have re-partitioned the hard drive so that I would have a D drive. I then re-installed Windows. I went to the Dell website, searched by my service code for drivers and downloaded them all. I went through and tried to load all of them. Several of them wouldn't load, however:
ATI Radeon Mobility X1300 R120464.EXE
NEC ND-6650A slim 8x DVD+-RW NEC6650_v103C.zip
SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio R114075.EXE
Synaptics Touchpad R120179.EXE
TSST TS-L532B slim 8x DVD+-RW DE04.ZIP
Now under Device Manager, I have the following problem drivers:
IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
Base System Device (Location: PCI bus 3, device 1, function 3)
Base System Device (Location: PCI bus 3, device 1, function 2)
Base System Device (Location: PCI bus 3, device 1, function 4)
Sound, Video and game controlers
Audio Device on High Defdinition Audio Bus (Location: 65535 Internal High Definition Audio Bus)
Also, even though all of the Network Adapter drivers are running OK, I cannot connect to the Internet through the Ethernet port. I can connect through WiFi. Before I re-installed Windows, I was able to connected through the Ethrnet port, so I would think that the hardware is OK.
Also, under the Control Panel, there is an option called "Internal NIC Configuration". This will not open, so I can't see what the Internal Network Card's settings are.
Can anyone help me with all this? Is there a way for me to tell what card is in PCI bus 3? How can I get the driver installation programs to run? They don't seem to be finding their associated hardware.

Thanks, DaveI re-loaded Windows and limited the drivers that I installed. This got rid of the problems. I made the mistake of thinking that, since I entered the service code for my particular machine, Dell would show me exactly what files I needed. Lesson learned......Brad

It looks like you downloaded every driver and just tried to install it.
The NEC & TSST zip files are not drivers, they are firmware and you don't have those drives. The "base system" error is because you didn't install the driver for the media card reader. It's the Ricoh driver listed under chipset.
Do you even have the ATI video card? Looking at your service tag I don't see a video card, which leads me to believe you have integrated graphics.
As for the sound driver and Synaptics driver, try installing them again.
I see you ordered the OS DVD. You should have received a CD with the drivers on it. If you run that it flags just the hardware you have.
Did you check the Dell instructions for reinstalling the OS? There is a recommended order for installing drivers.
