I have the same problem! I am also looking for answers. Why is dell so frustrating!

Have you tried calling Dell support about it? I wonder if they know this to be an issue? I have read in another forum there are other people experiencing this same issue. I need to be able to work this out asap.

Apparently it's a problem with the Webcam driver (believe it or not).
I just tested it on one of my E6500s; went into standby and came back out with no issue! 

The nVidia-based one pulses too?  If so that's a good thing; it is going into standby.

How are you trying to bring it out of standby?  The power-button or the keyboard?

Also, have you tried standby with the nVidia one un-docked?

Could be a conflict with the port replicator?  :emotion-6:  Again, ours are working okay.  The only other thing is that I have  a bunch of items disabled in the BIOS/EFI that are not in the models we have purchased (LPT, COM, modem, etc).  Might want to check through the settings and disable whatever is not in your configuration.
Also, maybe try uninstalling the driver for the webcam, then disable it in device manager and see if that helps.

Out of curiousity, when you close the lid, wait a second, then open it back up, does the power light ever begin to 'pluse', or is it on steady?

This morning I read the issue with the webcam and so I went to look at the driver version and it wasn't installed. It was a default Microsoft driver so I downloaded the correct version from Dell because it said there was no driver to roll back to. It prompted me to restart the machine. I put it into standby and it still locks up.

All of ours are with the nVidia VGA and the standby works correctly with the 1.3.2.919 driver.

Ask a silly question - did you reboot after rolling-back the driver?

Yeah maybe I'll try disabling it altogether and see what happens. When I do close the lid the power LED does start to pulse. I used the same port replicator to test the other laptop with the Intel video chip and it's able to come out of standby.

So our department has 2 of these laptops and port replicators so far. I rolled out and its having the standby locking issue. Last week I then imaged and updated everything software wise on it. I docked it and went into standby and it actually came out of standby! The only difference is that the model with the issue has the Nvidia video chip and the without the issue has the Intel chip. I'm not sure if thats something to look at because I made sure that the webcam driver is the 1.3.2.919 version and it still locks up.

Yes both of them pulse. They go into standby fine but the Nvidia based one does not come out of standby. I press the power button then move the mouse and tap the keys on the keyboard. The pulsing stops and the power LED is solid blue but the screen is black. I have tried it undocked with the same results.
