Full screen problems... Please help.

Hi everyone.  I've asked just about everywhere and tried just about everything I could think of, but this is by far the most annoying problem I've ever had.

I cannot get my computer to show practically anything (i.e., games) in FULL SCREEN.  :smileyindifferent:

Does anybody have any ideas?  Please reply.  It's gotta be something stupid.  A good friend of minr has an Inspiron 1000 and has no trouble filling his screen.  I tried the same exact game on mine and it doesn't fill it.  It shows up in what appears to be 640 x 480.  We both run XP home.  Mine, however, is an Inspiron 1100.  I have more RAM than him.  What can this possibly be???

Please answer.  ANYTHING whatsoever would be appreciated.  I rest my hope in you guys.  :smileywink:

I'd also like to say that, to my knowledge, I have the latest driver.  It just came out.  I think in June, 2005.  Thanks in advance, all.

    Hello,

Try Fn+F7, see if it works on a Inspiron 1100.

Simple answer, the hardware doesn't support scaling the image to the full screen.

    The Fn + F7 thing didn't help.

Why wouldn't it be able to scale the image.  Why would an Inspiron 1000 be able to and an 1100 not be.  What kind of joke is this?!?  :smileysad:

Hi yes sounds strange that a 1000 can play full screen and a1100 can not. This may sound silly have you contacted Dell re this issue?

Also how does your LPT compare to your mate's like Vidcard,Ram and HDD.

Well, when it was under warranty (it no longer is), I touched with them on the issue, which seemed to have taken me nowhere.  I don't even think they'll speak with me no that it's not under warranty, but maybe I'll still give them a call.

Let me check on some of that information; to reiterate, a have a good deal more RAM than him.  (I have a gig of it.)

Okay, I have an 80 GB hard drive, a gig of RAM, and a 1024 x 768 on Intel 82845GM Graphics controller monitor, (obviously a laptop). v. 6.14.10.4020 for the driver.

Any other ideas or information y'all want.  It seems the only games I can get in full screen are ones that GIVE YOU THE OPTION OF WHAT SCREEN RESOLUTION YOU WANT.  So perhaps it's something stupid.  It seems it HAS the capability.  Is there an option/setting out there?  Thanks again.

The HW doesn't support it... you're not going to get it... 1100 used desktop parts and guess what, desktops don't use internal panels...

You know what, spartanintexas, I don't think your laconic messages are as true as you make them sound.  It's all in the driver.  Why would the Inspiron 1100 be so different?  The dude I talked to at Dell the one time said it's probably some setting.  I told him it was an 1100.  It didn't matter to him.  He never said anything like that.  :smileyhappy:

Sorry to break it to you but if you look at the note in the attachment below.  It does NOT have the ability to "stretch".

Trust me I know a little about this ;-)
