Hardware failure.. need help!
Hello,
After a long day of work on my Inspiron 8100 win Win2k i just thought i would delete the data in the TEMP folder. I did. and thought would give my laptop a reboot and start back in 10 mins.
As i rebooted my system, it showed up hardware failure..
NO Harddrive dound
No optical Drive found
Intel's message............... (2 lines)
No Bootable Device - Press f1 to reboot press f2 for setup
WHAT SHOULD I do ?
Please Advice.

Now I have the same problem
"primary hard disk drive not found
Fixed optical drive not found "
But I don't understand the solution.
With a non operating notebook, I'm not able to run the diagnostic CD ( or is there a ghost drive in which I can load the CD?) ;-)
DEll now the ball is in your part of the playground !!! Hardware Code is 4tbdc0j

My Inspiron 8100 (WinXP, latest BIOS) gives me the same error message when I try to boot using battery power. My battery lasts a whole whopping 5 minutes anymore, so my only guess is that there's not enough power for the harddrive.
I think the error started appearing before my battery has gotten to its current state of worthlessness. So basically what I'm trying to say is: no clue, but I hear ya man.the-real-michae

Just thought I'd post one more follow up to this age old problem of mine.
I get the "cannot find bootable device" error constantly. I just power off & power back on. It has nothing to do with battery power or my hard drive (I've had that replaced).
I'm off to search the forums for other poor saps having the same problem.
