Hi, I just bought a Latitude E5430 expecting to get some Dell Business notebook Quality. I am using Windows 8 x64 (in UEFI-mode) with BIOS A09 and the latest Drivers available from dell.com.
The issue that I am encountering is that as soon as the fan turns on, it does not turn off for a long time (blowing out cool air), even though there is no high system load (just Internet Explorer opened) and the temperature is below 50C.
Basically, the fan starts at some temperature threshold, cools down the CPU to 38-40C, and even though the running fan does not cause the CPU to cool down more, it keeps running for a long time (10 minutes and counting) (while the CPU temperature constantly stays at 38-40C). :-(
Please forward this issue to the BIOS development department so that they can provide an update which improves fan control.

- Hi, I have the exact same issue with my e5430 with core i7 3520m processor. Once the fan starts at heavy load it wont quit working, no matter how long I wait, even if the computer is idle with no processor load. Dell replaced the motherboard, fan and heat sink, still its the same. On Monday they will replace the parts again.. I like the notebook generally but this issue makes it useless. The warranty service is exceptional though. Please advise. Thanks, Daniel

My newly bought E5430 has the same issue. It's quiet when starting up; but whenever the fan starts, it seems that it will never stop, even though it's just blowing cool air.
I have upgraded my BIOS to A09, the latest version. Unfortunately, there is still no option in BIOS for its fan/thermal control, and the symptom persists.
I tried the third part software i8kfanGUI and SpeedFan, the former causes blue screen dead and the latter can only slow down the fan for a few seconds...
It took me almost a whole day to fix it and I failed. Only the manufacturer knows the details of the hardware and drivers, so please fix it either by providing a thermal control option in BIOS or using a better algorithm to reduce the unnecessary noise.

this is clearly a bios issue, dell can replace the components as often as they want to as long as they dont provide an update...
hope this gets read or the customer service does the right thing by providing this feedback to the bios development department.
This is the information I received from Dell:
"Hi, we can make sure that after the parts are replaced the issue will be fixed."
So, someone who already has his components replaced would have to get his case escalated (so that they fix it in the BIOS)...
Sadly, I can not go forward with this as I am travelling right now.

Same issue here. Bios Update A09 didnt help. My Specs: i7-3520M, Windows 8 64-bit
The continuous fan noise ist annoying and a fix would be very much appreciated.
