Call up dell, and have them send out a new keyboard. its a CRU, so it shouldn't take mreo than 2 days.

Send it back, you can send back your computer within the first 21 days of your laptop shipping for a full refund. If you are not happy just send it back and go elsewhere.

Firstly, it is quite doubtful that the kb was damaged through replacing the lcd. Possibly just an issue with the seating of the kb cable.

Secondly, the kb is not a CRU, it is an FRU.

The motheroard, the graphics card, ad a few other thigs were replaced also.
Dell has icompetemt om-site service techs.
If you take your car to get repaired for a damaged wheel ad that get's fixed ut, whem you pick up your car have a failed tramsmissiom, is that a success?
Dell should do a etter jo of hirig om-site service techs.

So have you called Dell to get it fixed yet? Most likely a cable was just not secured properly and just complaining will get you no closer to resolution to your issue. These things happen to even the best of techs.

One of the benefits of on-site service is you can test your machine BEFORE the tech leaves to make sure everything is working properly. You did do that didn't you?

    >So have you called Dell to get it fixed yet? Most likely a cable was just not secured properly and just complaining will get you no closer to resolution to your issue.

I called. The keyboard has been replaced. It is fixed now.
The tech didn't come to fix a broken keyboard on the first visit. She broke (by broke I mean it doesn't operate in a fully functional state) the keyboard on the first visit then came back and replaced it on the second.

    >These things happen to even the best of techs.

I'm sure it does. Everyone makes mistakes. It doesn't make them bad people, just less reliable. I'm not even sure it was the tech's fault. It could've been BAD DELL equipment, for all I know.

    >One of the benefits of on-site service is you can test your machine BEFORE the tech leaves to make sure everything is working properly. You did do that didn't you?

Silly me. I didn't think to test every single program or piece of hardware that I have. Silly me. I figured if I tested what was supposed to be fixed that would be enough. Silly me. I figured the tech would fix the computer and not mess it up more. Silly me. I thought the tech would make the computer better not worse before leaving. I guess next time I'll have to hold the tech hostage for a few hours/days while I run all of my programs with different permutations of parameters and settings. After all, what do I care, it's not like I'm paying for it (Except if you count all of my lost time).

If I take my car into to get my brakes fixed, when I pick up my car I'll probably test my brakes, but won't check to see if the rear windsheild wiper works. Similarly, I didn't test the n,b,F1,del,=/+ keys.

The main reason for my post is to inform others to make sure that THEY check ALL of their programs and hardware (not just the ones that the service call was about, that would be too easy) before letting the tech go. I want to let people know that after a tech visit it is possible that more may become wrong with their computers.

The bottom line is that I got wronged and I wanted to let others know so that they won't make the same mistake of trusting that the tech would leave the computer in a fully functional non-defective state after "fixing" it.

I'm not hateful towards the tech. She was a very nice and polite person. People make mistakes. Life goes on. That doesn't mean I shouldn't warn others.

My guess is she didn't have the keyboard cable fully seated.  How much of your complaining is due to the fact the tech was a female?
