Run away Cursor
Inspiron 8600 running WIN XP Home with about 80 Hours run time since new and using a Logitech Scroll Mouse connected to the USB port.
When the system is started it appears to be operating O.K. but then The Cursor slowly drifts to the upper right hand corner of the screen and disappears off the screen. I can drag the cursor back to the center of the screen with the mouse, but as soon as I stop moving the mouse, the cursor drifts back to the upper right corner of the screen and disappears off the screen.
Disconnecting the mouse does not help. Using the nub can bring it back, but it disappears as soon as the nub is released. With the Mouse disconnected The touch pad will not work at all once the cursor has gone off the screen.
Disabling the touch pad in BIOS and reconnecting the mouse does not help.

I have a latitude with this same problem, it will go for days and be ok then bam, I can't control the cursor. It's like trying to reel in a 50 lb fish! If I open a new window sometimes it will behave ok for a while, then start "running" again. Can I replace the touch pad or do I need a whole new keyboard? thanks
