sprtcmd.exe - Corrupt File
I have a little pop up here in my tool bar (bottom right thingy with icons next to the system time) which says:
sprtcmd.exe - Corrupt File
The file or directory C:\DELL is corrupt and unreadable.
Please run the Chkdsk utility.
I ran chkdsk, it said:
C:\Windows\system32>chkdsk c:
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Volume label is OS.
WARNING! F parameter not specified.
Running CHKDSK in read-only mode.
CHKDSK is verifying files (stage 1 of 3)...
1 percent complete. (33412 of 234112 file records processed)
Attribute record (160, $I30) from file record segment 37344
is corrupt.
234112 file records processed.
File verification completed.
486 large file records processed.
Errors found. CHKDSK cannot continue in read-only mode.
Before I continue and destrol my hard disk, I wanted to ask what the heck is going on and what might happen (worst case, data loss type stuff) if I try to fix it.
Can anyone provide some assistance?
Thanks!

I had the same problem. According to Dell Support, it is a windows file that monitors running applications.
Fix is not reinstalling Dell Support Center as I was originally told during my first support call, but to do a system repair-F8 at start up, then "repair". Apparently Chkdsk does not run under Windows Vista, despite the admin level "schedule on restart" options. System repair is apparently just chkdsk in GUI form. I ran it and it fixed the sprtcmd.exe error.
