Touchpad disabled on dell e6220
Somehow I've managed to disable my dell touchpad - which I think must have happened by pressing a combination of keys. I've tried reinstalling the drivers and there's been no joy. The buttons I think should re-enable the touchpad don't seem to work (fn+f5).
Can you suggest anything to help?

check your Bios. Some times windows update changes your bios to the latest version and all of the sudden everything changes. If you have the latest download the previous version. if the problem is not solved download back the latest version and seek other solutions.

Hi Sandy,
I have the same issue with one of my 6220s.
It looks like the cable that connects the touchpad to the motherboard was shorted out by the metal plate holding the two touchpad buttons in place. The metal plate has a sharp 90 degree corner that presses up against the middle of the cable. And frequent use of the buttons will press the plate into the cable, wearing away at the plastic sheath, until it reached the metal wire and shorts (literally melted the plastic on the cable for me).
You will need to get this repaired through tech support.
Obviously a "minor" design flaw.
Hope this helps.
