I would request you to private message me the system service tag. To private message accept my friend request; click on my user name and click start conversation.

i am also having the same problem i have tried installing different drivers but that just causes me not to be able to turn off tap to click so im hoping there is a solution for this one so i can use the touch pad and keyboard at same time otherwise any games are pointless on my 15r 5520

my problem is the reverse. I want to turn off the touchpad so i can use mouse only.   My< FN> + tab does not work.  I have also gone thru control panel mouse.  I downloaded the new driver and the problem still isn't fixed.

@ nalani13 just go into dell touchpad and turn it off there ive done it on accident trying to fix my problem

My New Inspiron 15 (N5050) has the same issue.

Keyboard and touch pad work fine.  But touch pad will stop working when keyboard is in use.  Can't find a way to disable this anywhere in the menus.

No fix for this besides using USB mouse?

I just got my Inspiron 15R SE 7520 today, and I had read about this problem on the reviews, but a Dell employee had answered to that problem, saying there s a quick fix on the Touchpad, just disabling "Touchguard". So that was the first thing I did when I got my laptop, but there was no option for "Touchguard" or anything similar....

Called the tech service, the very nice and oblivious guy who was trying to help me got me to disable the Touchpad, said he would use Remote Access to see if there is an option in the Touchpad application (duh, I was saying that there wasn't and that was the problem) and after a few minutes of talking to him and figuring out that he doesn't have any idea how to solve this, I hung up and decided to look for a solution online.

The thing is, I have seen some screenshots of the previous version of "Dell Touchpad" application, and that one really does have an option to turn off "Touchguard". It seems stupid why they would remove that, right? Anyways, so if we could find a way to "downgrade" our Touchpad program into that one, that could temporarily solve our problems until there is an update that solves this.

Any ideas??

I got it to work!!!

I have Dell Touch Pad loaded on this laptop.  (it came with it)  I had to disable what is called TouchCheck.

I went to :   Dell Touch Pad/ Touchpad settings /Disable (unclick Enable)  TouchCheck

It was located in the hidden items...lower right side of screen.

Yeah I agree with tulie. I think the regular inspiron and the special edition have different touchpad drivers though. Which do you have?
