I did as instructed, and I have done the same in safe mode. It ended with the same result. Now after doing this I go into the control panel, system, device manager, show hidden devices, and I have yellow ! Next the the DellBIOS under non plug and play drivers. I have tried all of the the BIOS's from 1-8 with the same result. I have tried this from the desktop and from the command line....NoGo. What do you think? Thanks for replying.....DELL-Jimmy P

AllYou need to have the flash application run in administrator mode, running it from your account even if it says you have admin rights won't do it. Right click on the flash application and left click run as administrator.- Same problem here also, tried to update the BIOS on my inspiron 6400 from A08 to A14 with no joy. I recieve the same error messages as others. I have tried to run the update from DOS as instructed by Dell tech support but that does not work, Please someone give us a clue?
