Video Card E1705
I got a pretty stock E1705, when i put my Service tag number in for possible video card upgrades it gives me the ATI 1400 card, but i heard that card is not all that great. What are the other alternatives I have? Also someone told me that I would probably have to send my laptop back to Dell so they can do the upgrade because of course it is not as easy as a desktop and it could void my warranty if i try it myself and mess it up. Is it really that hard to change it out on a laptop?
- You'll get more for your money with an XBox - if you want an nVidia card for the notebook, you need to change the mainboard ($400-500) plus buy a video card ($400 or so from Dell); it's just not worth it.
If you get an XBox, do some reading on it first - and absolutely get an extended warranty on it - the XBox 360 has been very unreliable in the field. - ok, yeah i think i have the intel graphics 945 chip or card. I initially didnt buy it with gaming in mind. I can run games on it but not the greatest. I was running Half life 2 on it and while it was looking great and running well, it would freeze every time i got to the loading screen. I was told it was due to my video card not being able to take it. So i guess my decision now is either upgrade my system or go with the xbox 360.

If you have the ATI X1400, there are a couple of nVidia options - there'a a 7800 and a 7900 card for the system. These are Dell-proprietary cards that will run you about $400 or so from
