The volume and light controls on my Latitude E5500 disappeared. How do I restore them?

Hi xerographist ,
In Windows, to make the speaker icon for controlling sound volume visible in the system tray, follow the appropriate instructions below.
Windows 7
1.Right-click an empty area of the taskbar, and click Properties.
2.In the "Notification area" section, click Customize... .
3.From the "Volume" drop-down menu, select the desired option.
Windows Vista
1.Right-click the Start button, and then click Properties.
2.In the Notification Area tab, check Volume, and then click OK.
Windows XP
1.From the Start menu, select either Control Panel, or Settings and then Control Panel.
2.Double-click Sounds and Audio Devices.
3.Click the Volume tab. In the "Device Volume" section, make sure Place volume icon in the taskbar is checked.
4.Click OK.
