2407 Component dead?

Hi,

I bought my unit this week and hooked up my 360 straight away via component @ 720p. All was fine, the picture was great. Switched back to dvi to resume my PC use, today (2 days later) I put the 360 on and switch to component input and I get nothing. The unit is saying no input source. Anyways I tested the 360 on my LCD downstairs and its working fine via component. So it seems my unit is defective.

Can I just call up tech support and ask for a exchange and they will do it right away? My unit is a A03 made in Mexico and i'm from the UK. So I would want a brand spanking new unit, revision A03.

Thanks

    black_zs,

Do you have another device to test on the TV components?

Yep, I tested my original xbox (which is connected to the lcd downstairs) over component with the screen and it still says no input. I double checked the 360 cable by switching its setting to tv and plugging it in to the screen via composite. That worked. So the 360 unit and cable are both functioning fine.

Sounds faulty to me after your testing.
I am a bit surprised that you said it looked good
before - component is supposed to be one of the
    weak points of this monitor.
    cheers

Wait. Did I hear that right? The xbox 360 @ 720 actually looked good? Are you serious? Even if it was only momentarily, I am impressed. Maybe you got one of those fancy review builds that Dell sent out to all the press. You know, the ones were the component input doesn't look like total garbage.

Its odd how it failed so quickly. One of my friends has an A02 and its component has been working fine for a very long time. Ah well I shall give dell a call in the morning.

Spoke to couple of tech guys who said its not the first call they've had with my issue. Also people have reported the S-Video input failing. I should be getting a replacement tomorrow, though no one could say if it would be a A03 again.

    UPDATE

As promised yesterday I would get a replacement screen today. The replacement screen was proper grubby with dirty finger marks. It had some VGA cable connected that looked like someone had used a screw driver to connect the plug as it was mangled. The stand that came with it was scratched to and wonky. BUT.....

Now I have cleaned the screen its as good as new, plus I got a free dvi cable. The screen is a refurbished unit with the A03 firmware. I've run the dead pixel and banding tests and everything is as good as the previous. More importantly component is now working again. Just a shame my BRAND SPANKING NEW unit made only last month was faulty :(

I can't fault the people I spoke to from Dell, very polite and helpful. My only suggestions to Dell would be send out a new screen when one so new goes faulty and for their tech guys to maybe clean the screens up before sending out ;)

Overall I am happy, plus I basically still have my 4yrs warranty left should any other problems arise :)

    Cheers

    UPDATE 2

I spoke too soon. This replacement it not operating properly at all. At normal res it will freeze within 30 seconds of use. I have to turn it off at the wall and then turn it back on. Then quickly lower the res to use the screen for any length of time. I called Dell and they are saying they have no record of my call to them yesterday, no record of the serial number i gave them from the new screen, no record of this refurbed unit, no record of them sending out a refurb unit. Basically no record of anything, I've now got to wait till tomorrow for a call from a manager to sort this out!

ChrisM can you help please as this is stupid?
