My Dell 2007fp monitor was failing and dell sent me a new monitor. That one had a lot of dead pixels and I called and complained and have since received another monitor. This new one is a refurbished 2007fp monitor and it arrived today. This monitor is great, no dead pixels, over all great. But I noticed a characteristic tonight that I’d never seen before. On grey backgrounds and even tan backgrounds the monitor seems to have this very faint flicker/shimmering effect. This is my second replacement and I was all set to be happy with it, but I’m not sure anymore. Does anyone know what this is or if there is something I can do to fix it. Is this monitor on the brink of failing too? My original monitor did not do this nor did the first replacement. Thanks!
Well my replacement monitor just died and turned off and won’t come back on again. So I guess the answer to my question is that a monitor that is exhibiting flicking/shimmering/pulsing effects means it’s about to break. Hopefully my next replacement will be defect free.
Don't use the factory "default" settings. I had the same problem with a "flickering" effect, which was very evident on white backgrounds. Reinstalled drivers, etc. to no avail. Finally reset the brightness and/or contrast up, and this solved the "flickering" effect.
