New E198WFP DVI won't work with XP

I've got a new E198WFP connected with a dvi cable to an asus p5q-em mobo with an intel g45 chipset.

It's a dual boot machine. If I boot linux, the monitor works fine with dvi.

If I boot up windows XP with VGA, that works. If I boot XP with DVI, I get the bios screen, the first Windows splash screen, the nothing. The monitor gives a digital entering power save message, and the light goes amber.

I've downloaded the drivers from the Dell site: R151906.EXE. This doesn't install anything, but just unpacks some inf files(the directions say there should be an install wizard). I went to c:\Dell\R151906, right clicked the .inf file, and selected Install.

Rebooted. No joy.

How do I get this monitor to work with DVI?

Any help appreciated.

Well it's a bug in the intel driver for the G45. See http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?strState=LIVE&lang=eng&ProductID=2996&DwnldID=17538.

    Install winxp_14383bb.zip and all's well.
